Best Glass Floor Bathroom Design
The DGPP penthouse is located on the upper level of a former neo-colonial building built in the seventies. The structure is based on columns and beams which allowed the removal of walls to extend the spaces and replacement windows by large windows from floor to ceiling.
The intention was to create a respectful contemporary project, one of the biggest concerns was how to change and grow facade with something contemporary without losing the sense and romantic language of the building. It was decided to respect the adding only a light covering on the terrace that would not compete with the rest of the elements ceilings.
The windows open from end to end without mangueterĂa, achieving a full view. Under this criterion, which was originally a pent-house with four bedrooms became a loft where everything can be a great space or spaces can be subdivided according to their use. Also within the chamber private spaces can be divided either one or two depending on the case. To make this a reality sliding to the center of the large master bedroom and two bathrooms, one on each end screens were installed. The location of windows was done on site, perforating and / or filling as needed to promote the views.
Areas "day" are located to the west, where a park is, allowing windows to be opened completely leaving a large area consisting of dining room and kitchen with a great view to the park.
Income is defined by two walls; one white and one red. White separates the circulation areas (elevator and stairs), red separates the kitchen from the service areas, this wall does not reach the slab to maintain continuity of open spaces. The texture is shiny polished floor as the west facing penthouse allows sunlight reflecting creating a refined atmosphere.
The decor is based on the use of textures and art as it is a mural of Jorge Mendez Blake.
A feature of this project is that of a forged red brick cube that was originally intended for a second elevator, it never settled, it became a half bath with a glass floor allowing a full view to the bottom, creating a unique and singular space.
